Guest on two podcasts

I was recently invited to be interviewed twice on different podcasts. At the beginning of February, I was a guest on “Theaterstimmen”, the new podcast format of the Saarländisches Staatstheater. In it, I talked at length with host Lea-Marie Albert about creative silliness and the big and small questions of everyday artistic life. In “Backstage – der Kulturpodcast”, together with Leni Bohrmann, the focus was more on my artistic career, my voice and our current tour through Germany with the Erich Kästner and Georg Kreisler program. Both media provide an intimate insight into my thoughts and work and can be found on all popular streaming platforms such as Spotify, Deezer, Apple Podcast, Amazon music etc.

Role debut in “TURANDOT”

On January 11, 2025, Puccini’s “TURANDOT” celebrated its revival premiere at the Saarländisches Staatstheater. This production, directed by Jakob Peters-Messer, had already been performed in 2022, but without me at this time. Therefore, everything was new to me musically and scenically, so the short rehearsal period was challenging for me. The anticipation clearly outweighed the excitement, as I had already taken part in three other “TURANDOT” productions at Theater Hof, the Bregenz Festival and Leipzig Opera before my studies and had always wanted to sing Minister Ping. There are only five performances in Saarbrücken this season – almost all of them are already sold out.

Sold-out New Year’s Gala

On January 1, 2025, I was invited to the traditional New Year’s Gala at the sold-out Theater am Ring in Saarlouis as a soloist together with mezzo-soprano Sina Günther. As already musically sung there, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a healthy, peaceful and fulfilling 2025! The concert focused on the theme of “WALDLEBEN”, which the KreisSymphonieOrchester Saarlouis under the leadership of Christian Schüller brought to life in a variety of ways. The Saarbrücker Zeitung raved that “Max Dollinger interpreted Wolfram’s Abendstern by R. Wagner with his velvety voice”. Furthermore, the duet with Sina Günther was the “highlight of the evening”.

Germany-wide tour

This spring will take me on a small tour from southern Baden-Württemberg to the German capital Berlin. You are cordially invited to five dates of the Erich Kästner evening “DIE ZEIT FÄHRT AUTO” together with Philipp Riedel and to the two dates of the Georg Kreisler evening “UNERHÖRTES VON GEORG KREISLER” together with Achim Schneider. The venues are mainly small, intimate performance spaces and chamber theaters. We will start at the end of January 2025 in the Kleines Haus 1 of the Staatsschauspiel Dresden. Another highlight will be the Theater im Palais in Berlin at the beginning of April. Links to the respective tickets can be found under DATES. More information about the programs can be found on the project page. Feel free to spread the word.

chosen as face of the month

I was surprised to read that I was chosen as the cultural “Face of the Month” for November 2024 by Saarland’s L!VE magazine. I am delighted to have been recognized for my role as Roman Cycowski in “IRGENDWO AUF DER WELT” at the Saarländisches Staatstheater. Especially because, in addition to all the entertainment provided by the operetta numbers, we are above all telling the story of the incomprehensible consequences of our fascist German past. I am happy to put my name – and my face – to anti-fascist, political art and social ‘heart work’.

Concert for the Erich Kästner anniversary year

The musical Erich Kästner evening “DIE ZEIT FÄHRT AUTO” celebrated its tryout premiere on October 19, 2024 (Sat) at the Fraunhofer Theater in Munich. In 2024, Erich Kästner celebrates a double anniversary: his 125th birthday and the 50th anniversary of his death. Munich was deliberately chosen as the venue as Kästner spent the last phase of his life there. Further performances with this program are planned for spring 2025.

Opening of the 2024/25 season

The 2024/25 season has begun and was celebrated in grand style with the Theaterfest on 1 September at the Saarländisches Staatstheater. I have the pleasure of making two special opera debuts at my home theater this season: Ping in Puccini’s “TURANDOT” (premiere: January 11, 2025) and Papageno in Mozart’s “DIE ZAUBERFLÖTE” (premiere: June 14, 2025). Both plays have been with me since my youth, so my anticipation is great! I will also be on stage in Saarbrücken as Roman Cycowski in “IRGENDWO AUF DER WELT” (premiere: 21.09.2024) and as Anthony Hope in “SWEENEY TODD”. All my performance dates can be found HERE.
